ATT upgrade

Quick question. I ordered from Apple on ATT Next an upgrade under my wife's line. I will be taking that phone and she is getting my 6s - still on next. What do I do when I get it? Just activate as usual for her and swap SIM cards and reset up the phone? Or take my card out and out it in the new phone and then do it? Don't wanna scree this up.

I've done this in the past but with two year agreement not Next. In times past, just had to switch the sim cards and it worked. I think one year I had to call ATT ans let them know the imei number but that was years ago, I think when I had to get a different sized sim card
