Here is a simple one i'm not sure anyone will know an answer to. On Apples site, an iPhone XS with 64GB gets you $300. On ATT's site that same device gets you only $245 and then an additional $30 (assuming waving upgrade fee). I'm curious why i would want to go the trade-in route with ATT unless...the trade in value with increase based on the pre-order. Meaning on Friday, the value of this device will go up with pre-ordering a new iPhone 12. Anyone?

Interesting, someone else posted this below and if that is the case I now get it. Seems like its not about trade-in value of the phone, but depending on the trade in phone will give you $X toward the new phone of choice...

No, the "up to" bit referrers to the maximum you will receive in discounts based upon which phone you buy. Buy the $699 mini and you get $699. Buy the $799 12 and you get $799, buy the $1099 Pro, you get $799.

Your trade in value needs to be greater than $95.

That's a promotional trade-in program through AT&T. Obviously a lot of confusion and uncertainty surrounding it and AT&T isn't particularly known for providing clear consistent answers. The one 'for sure' is that the credits are allocated over a 30 month period. It's essentially a contract. If you don't mind keeping a phone that long, it's a good deal.

Apple's page seems to have been updated overnight with a little more information.
