Attachments in Mail - how to make them smaller

When I attach something in Mail, let say a photo, it appears as a whole photo. It's a little bit annoying. I'm used of smaller icons for attachments from gmail. Is possible to make that different in Mail?

Resize it before attaching or set the attachment size in the email

You can do : right click, "show as icon".
