I filed a complaint yesterday with the Arizona Attorney General alleging manufacturing defects in recent Mac laptops. A month ago I had to have the keyboard etc. on a one-year old Pro--my fourth--replaced because randomly at least 10 keys had developed the same very finite crack that started halfway down the key in the middle and would run to the bottom. Such fine cracks that one even had to have glasses on to see some. Yesterday, I opened my Pro to find the screen black, a grey blob for a bit in the middle of the screen that then disappeared, and according to a "Genius" at the store I took it to a small crack--mind you not on the glass--but underneath the glass that I purportedly am responsible for. With Apple Care I am supposed to feel lucky that I only have to pay $99. This same screen issue has been plaguing many people. This is my fourth Pro as mentioned, and interestingly the screen on my 2009 pro is in the best shape--pristine--of any. Furthermore, I have treated all my laptops the same, including non-Macs. This is the first time I have dealt with cracked keys and a "cracked" screen. As Apple has increasingly rushed out product to meet deadlines, ultimately of course to please shareholders first and foremost, the quality control has continued to decrease. Furthermore, as if I should even have to say this, a laptop is expected to take a bit of "beating," as further evidenced by the higher price charged for AppleCare on laptops, although the rest of the Pro I am discussing was in absolute perfect condition as also verified by Apple when it took the computer in yesterday to replace the screen. Whatever happened to Apple?
