So I had a tether jailbroken Apple TV 2 on an older firmware. Unforunately the power went out a few months ago and I am assuming that the Apple TV lost the jailbreak. However, since I wasnt using it at the time I decided not to do anything. I tried today to jailbreak using the newr software and it basically said that the build was not appropriate for the ATV. I decided to just press the restore the ATV using the restore button on the iTunes menu and the same message came up.

Do you guys know why it is not letting me update to the latest jailbroken build or even restore to original firmware and then upgrade? Is it because it was tethered before? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I wouldn't know the cause.. but one thing I'd maybe try is getting hold of an older ATV2 firmware build from "somewhere on the internet" (allegedly) then press the alt key when you click the restore button and point iTunes at the older firmware and see if it'll let you bring that in..
