OSund like a lot of people having iOS 5 update problems on their AppleTV 2.
Me included.
Far to many people are "unbricking" the ATV2 with a USB cable from a Droid device!
Me included.
2 Errors on Apple Engineering here:
1) A fail safe firmware update mechanism
2) the use of a micro USB connector. The mini USB is far more common.

The restore via iTunes is the failsafe. Unlike the old Apple TV's which died, you can restore these ones at home.

No issues here either. Maybe it's people trying to upgrade to iOS 5 from a jailbroken :apple:TV?

By the way, RS232 connectors were common, once upon a time. 😉

Mine updated fine. Although it added no features that are even remotely interesting to me.

Update went fine, but it hasn't added anything exciting or groundbreaking. Still a great streaming device though.

The upgrade worked out fine for me as well. Far more easier than the iPhone or the iPad. It's the aftermath of the upgrade that is kinda strange for my case

Both of mine updated with no problem. I had no idea you can restore via iTunes if there was a problem. Good to know, thanks..

Count me as one of the ones having an issue. Not jailbroken, just waiting for my micro usb to come in the mail.
