This is what I would like-- instead of a having a separate "Computers" option within the ATV menu, I'd prefer it if "Movies" or "TV Shows" would show what's available in my iTunes library along with what's streamable in my iTunes cloud. The two should be mixed together.

that's what it used to be like before they made the switch to having your own content in the "computers" sub-menu.

Yes, it was that way years ago. I still think the final incarnation of the :apple:TV1 interface was the best yet for any of these little boxes. I'd love to get that version on the :apple:TV3 hardware OR see it released as a new "front row" for Mac.

Apple is supposed to be "just works" and expert at making highly intuitive UIs. Our own movies should appear under "Movies". Our own TV shows should appear under "TV Shows". Etc. It is much less intuitive that all of our own stuff appears under a menu called "Computers."

While they are at it, I wish they would resurrect a few other features I really miss- like making the "Shows" field work again. For multi-episode movies like Star Wars, Star Trek, Harry Potter, Die Hard, etc, you used to be able to tag the "show" field with a name and all of the episodes would be consolidated into a single line item in the movie list. For example, tagging the "Show" field of the 11 Star Trek movies with "Star Trek" would yield a single line item in the :apple:TV movie list called "Star Trek". Click it and it would then display the 11 movies. This yielded a shorter, easier-to-scan list of movies than the way it is now.

I also wish Apple would resurrect using each TV Show's poster art as assigned to each episode rather than seeming to pick just one for all episodes grouped as a season. I miss that old feature too.

I've confused myself a couple times when learning the ATV3 interface. I find it a bit disingenuous that my movies aren't actually under movies and that my music isn't under music. I've also not found a way yet to copy music videos to music videos.

I too would love any movie on my iTunes be found within the AppleTV Movie button.

However, this is clearly tilted toward buying from Apple...Music would be nice to have even just the tunes you purchased via iTunes, but NOPE, it seems to only be available to those that purchase iTunes Match.

I also wish I could create Folders for movies...I have some movies imported from iPhones and they are all named "image_something" and so I scroll through movies, see a bunch of these and then more movies. I wish I could consolidate some, in a similar fashion to the above poster saying to lump movie collections together.

Is it bad that it's not even a bothersome issue for us? Using the Remote app, we just browse what we want from our ripped library and throw it on the ATV...no muss, no fuss.

When I use the remote app to browse my library and play a movie, it continues to play all my movies. It wont auto-stop at the end of the movie I was watching.

What I'd like to see is a single unified search across all available services. If I want to watch a movie, I search once. If it's streaming on Netflix it gives me that option. If it's an iTunes rental, I get that option. If it's on Hulu AND Amazon Prime, I get both options. Etc. I don't see why this isn't a thing.

The remote app is sooo slow to connect. It's just annoying.

I agree. it takes less time for me to turn to HDMI start up Apple TV, click over to Home Sharing and look for movies... using the remote app and any Homesharing on my iP4 is really slow to connect. not sure if it is many GB of media but it takes a while to connect, whereas the ATV is much quicker

From what I saw at the iPhone 5 event (which I admittedly watched in a bit of a hurry) it seemed as though the interface for the forthcoming revamp of iTunes will adopt this kind of model, whereby the presentation of content is agnostic about source. Perhaps I'm grasping at straws here, but maybe this could be something that Apple would seek to port across to the Apple TV?

Like most others here, I'd really like to see this happen. Just show me what I have available. If there's more than one potential source for this content, select it automatically on the basis of what is most sensible (i.e. if a film is available in the iTunes library of my Mac, stream if from there rather than streaming it from iCloud).

This would be great. Any idea on when the revamped iTunes is set to come out?

nevermind-- sounds like it's coming out this month.

That would be great.

What I'd also like is for Home Sharing to have a similar layout to the ATV iTunes Store with a coverflow layout. Front Row is a massive pain in the ass. You could have movies arranged in different rows -- Recently Watched, A-Z, Genres, etc. And a Search feature. Or have a grid option like ATV's Netflix interface.

While we're at it, why not collapse seasons into one listing instead of listing each season separately? It should be show -> seasons -> episodes. Other media servers can do this, why can't iTunes?

I think you're spot on. It seems very likely this will happen.

The "Movies" section should be movies you own in iCloud or on your computer's iTunes library.
The "TV Shows" section should do the same but with TV shows.

To purchase movies or TV Shows, there should be a seperate iTunes section and icon for the iTunes store, same way it is done in iOS.

Once the so-called iTV comes out and an App store is released, I can see them doing this.

Yeah, this would be perfect.

Again (if I'm understanding you right), this is how it used to be several years ago. A show was one line item in the "TV Shows" section. Seasons of that show would appear if you clicked into it. Episodes would appear if you clicked into a season.

For some reason, Apple decided it would be better for us to "evolve" away from that to what we have now.
