I bought a second Apple TV for a bargain ... And after plugging in I realized, that the TvOS is 16.6. I want to upgrade, because a lot of apps don't work with that old OS anymore.

But update fails every single time. Sometimes when downloading, sometimes when preparing (step 1/2) ... It always says "error occured - try again later". No specific error.

Anyone experienced this behavior? Is there a way to sideload a more recent OS (I read about a hidden lightning connector within the network jack).

Any adivce? thanks for your support

Have you tried System > Reset > Reset & Update? I'm wondering if the internal storage is full and there's not enough space to complete the update. The other option would be to unplug it during booting 5X in a row which initiates a fallback setup mode. Not sure what happens from there but hopefully it'll give you a clean reinstall option.

I resetted it a few times (with upgrade option and without) ... Signed into my Apple account, without ... Deleted as many apps I could ... Always the same result.

Haven't tried the boot-fail method ... I'll give it a try. Thanks

Anyway, I bought myself now the cable/adapter (FoxLink X892 GoldenEye / DCSD Alex) to access the lightning-port ... Let's see what I can do.
