Folks---not sure what setting I need to change to eliminate the black bars at the top & just below the picture. I have a XBR65X900E (Sony 4K Ultra HD, HDR TV). I had a free 4K movie offer to stream from Google & I rented the Martian in what I thought was 4K from iTunes. Both displayed these bars and quite frankly didn't really appear any different than watching any HD movie. You can really see a difference when viewing in the store.

I'm not the greatest at trying to understand all the various settings & connections. I have the TV connected to a Samsung Sound bar via HDMI (Arc) the sound bar accomodates a 4K passthru & is HDCP2.2 compliant. The Atv I have connected directly to the TV. I have selected the HDR Enhanced setting on the TV settings.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Most movies are a different aspect ratio to a TV (often 21:9 for movies, 16:9 for widescreen TV), so there will be black bars above and below the image. You have the choice of that, or use your TV to zoom and lose each end of the content.

The opposite can happen with old TV that is in the 4:3 aspect ratio and leaves black bars at the sides. People often stretch the image to fill the screen and see everyone fatter.

I know some people prefer to use all their TV because they have paid for those inches, but I prefer to watch properly and see all of the content I have paid for.

Thanks for the reply...that must be what Best Buy does...I’ve never seen this on any of their 4K displays...
