I just saw that my 1st gen ATV 4k will not be compatible with the upcoming TV OS27. What I would like to know is will my ATV still be able to get the individual app updates as they get updated (Netflix, Hulu, etc)? Or is that it for the unit, no longer usable?

For what I've seen, lots of tvOS apps still support old versions (like tvOS 15 or even 13) so you'll be good for at least 3 or 4 years. i'll keep using my apple tv hd for now

Yes and given the fact that these are the first tvOS Devices ever to drop support and with the tv HD’s example having long lasting OS Support for a long time app support will last a very very long time

Better part of a decade. Since there isn't much difference in hardware diversity the apps are similar so there isn't much effort supporting older AppleTV's. Netflix, Hulu, etc are subscription services, the more screens they are available on the more money they make (or at least potential).
