Hi, my ATV-HD shows a new strange behavior. Before playing let’s say a movie on Amazon Prime, TV+ or the images like auto publicity are blurry and look like 480i then when the movie starts, back to crisp clear HD. Does someone have a clue?
Thanks a lot.

Same on the ATV4K with Prime Video, haven’t seen it on other apps.
As long as the main feature is playing as intended then I don’t let it bother me.

On my ATV 4K I get that a lot with apps like CuriousityStream too. The video will start out in what looks like old SD TV resolution (480i) with all kinds of artifacts on the screen. Basically it looks like OTA antenna reception that is really poor. But after a minute are so it clears up and looks like decent 4K. I think it is likely the fault of the streaming service. Ever since tvOS 15 my Philo app has been crashing a lot. Philo rushed out an update to deal with the issue, but it didn’t resolve it. So I’m having to view Philo on my Fire TV Cube, which I also use for Amazon Prime. BTW, Prime looks okay on my Fire TV Cube, so it is probably just an issue with the Prime app on tvOS.

May I ask you how is the reception on the Fire TV Cube compared to ATV. Thanks.

Over all they a fairly comparable as far video quality goes. I have the ATV 4K 2017 and the Fire TV Cube 2nd generation. I like the interface of the ATV 4K better than the cluttered mess of the Fire TV, and I like not having those bleeping ads you get on the Fire TV. Amazon is always pushing something to sell. It gets quite annoying. But the Fire TV OS is less buggy than tvOS, and the settings work a bit more logically on Fire TV OS. And fewer apps have issues on Fire TV OS.
