Can anyone tell me why my Apple TV suddenly started to request my Apple ID password? I'm given the option of going to Settings and typing it in or Not Now. If I provide the password, the request just appears again at a later time. If I say Not Now, I can go to my apps (Music, Netflix, etc) and they all work just fine.

What and where is 2FA? I don't remember ever getting a code on my phone? I have an iPhone 7 that the aTV won't finish setup because the phone doesn't have the bluetooth needed and it won't let me manually set it up. Could it be that? I think what really bothers me is that here is a popup, asking for my to my Apple ID (the portal to get to all my stuff) and the message never says who is requesting my password. It just automatically fills in my ID name. Thanks for the reply!

It is. I have also read where you have to put in your password>ask for code>then type it in behind the password. I may try that. Hopefully i will get the code on my old iPhone.

Got a new phone that will pair with the aTV. Reset the aTV to factory, updated to latest OS version, then used the phone to set up the aTV. All seems good now.

Mine was doing this. I tried holding two buttons on the remote to reset it, back button and tv button for 5 seconds and now my Apple TV won’t work at all. No usb ports so I don’t know if it is fixable.

Yet another reason why I am glad I brought a Roku instead of aTV. The only time I had to provide a password was when I set it up. My other Apple devices require me to re-enter my password at least once a quarter on all my devices.

I like the Roku as well but it is too locked down for use in my situation so I went back to my AppleTV for a majority of my streaming/viewing.
