ATV2 & 3D Movies

Recently I got an Apple TV 2 and sold back every movie and have gone discless. I want a 3D TV really bad, and was wondering if anyone has had success with converting any type of 3D Movie (not anaglyph) to play on the new Apple TV, and if it works (while using a 3DTV of course). I've heard some say converted half side by side works with a 3DTV and Apple TV, and others say it doesn't.

Basically, I just need to know if a half sbs thats been encoded with handbrake to the apple tv 2 settings will play on the apple tv, and if the hdmi output will allow this to sync properly with a 3dtv and the shutter glasses.
