Can a ATV2 with Software version 6.0.1 be jailbroken (for XMBC use) or reversed back to 5.0.2?

The ATV2 is jailbreakable up to version 6.1.4. although 6.1.4 is tethered when all the ones before were not. so the answer to your question is maybe?

When you say 6.01 you mean IOS 7.0.3 which is AppleTV version or IOS 6.01 which is AppleTV version 5.1.1? Yeah, it's confusing: http://forum.firecore.com/topic/3418
