Does anyone have success using ATV4 as a hub when connected via ethernet?

I have mine setup like that, ethernet cable into Airport Extreme which manages my wifi network(s*). When I look in the settings it shows that the Apple TV is connected to my Home, and I can control lights etc... with Siri on the ATV, but if I'm away from the house I get a message that remote access is not enabled!?!?

Mine is on Ethernet. Your problem sounds like 2-factor authentication isn’t enabled. Once you enable, you should be ok to control your HomeKit home from afar.

I've got two factor enabled. I logged out of my account on the ATV and back in again, HomeKit has connected again so I need to test it when I'm out...

UPDATE - it appears to be working now, so logging out of iCloud and back in on the ATV appears to be one solution
