is there anything like this that exists? I don't have ATV4 yet (still on 3) but would like to use VPN for geo Netflix and HBO etc. Any chance of getting a VPN to work, or do you have to go through the router with custom firmware route?

I use a smart DNS service, called getflix that works perfectly. I simply enter one of the DNS addresses that the service gives me, open the free app on my iPhone or iPad and tap "update" and I can then use all the services that I wish to. I have also spoken with someone from getflix and they are planning an ATV4 app to update the IP addresses without the need of an iPad or iPhone. Highly recommended and I am not affiliated with them.

*interested face* this sounds very exciting! How do you actually sign up for HBO and Hulu though, just provide a "fake" US address? I assume you'd also need a US iTunes account to sign into the App Store to get these apps?

This is from the Apple website :)

"Subscribe to HBO right from your Apple TV or iOS device — no cable or satellite subscription required. With HBO NOW, you get instant access to HBO’s award-winning original programming, as well as exclusive Hollywood blockbusters. HBO NOW is available for just $14.99 a month — with no long‑term contract or commitment. Sign up on your Apple TV, iPad, or iPhone, and get the first month free"

So, I suspect you need to change your location (and create a US account) on the Apple TV and set a VPN to the US

Getflix give you a mass of servers and you choose the one closest to you. If you watch BBC Iplayer, the DNS reports as you being in the uk, if you load other services, it matches the country to that service without your intervention. Works a treat, you can get an Apple ID in any country by setting up a new account when you try to buy a free app from AppStore, then select none as payment method. Choose any address you want

Isn't Netflix blocking vpn's? I use express vpn but i dont know if they have an atv app, they do have ios apps. You can also set up your modem to use a vpn or buy one that already is setup that way your entire network is using the vpn and you dont need any apps.

i don't think they can block VPNs more the DNS addresses but the companies just come up with other means to circumnavigate
