Given that most quality brandname (LG, Samsung, Sony) 2016 TVs being released now support 4K (and some HDR)... what are the chances of a small revision to ATV hardware to support HDMI 2.0a tomorrow ?

( probably slim )

The slimmest.

My guess is :apple:TV5 comes out with- or soon after- iPads inherit iPhone's 4K video camera. iPads being able to shoot 1080p preceded the launch of the :apple:TV3 "now with 1080p" and I'm assuming the same sequence of events here. Best chance is if the iPad Pro announcement rolls out with IT being able to shoot 4K. My own guess: this Fall at the earliest... but probably 2017-18 is more likely.
