Audio Balance Issue in Final Cut Pro – Right Channel Reduced, Phasey Sound When Dragging File

Hello.

For some reason, when I import audio into my Final Cut project, the right channel is significantly reduced. The audio plays correctly outside of Final Cut, but inside the project it becomes unbalanced. If I drag and drop the file instead, the stereo balance appears correct, but the audio sounds phasey and the volume fluctuates unpredictably.

The file is 24 Bit 48 kHz
Have tried re importing - no luck
Have tried moving the event to a new library - no luck
Pan Mode is set to Stereo

Final Cut Pro 10.6.10
Ventura 13.7.8

If I create a New Event and import the audio only - it plays correctly

Have created multiple video projects on this system in the past with no problems...

Any suggestions what I might be missing?
