    Hi everyone,

We're looking for a little help with Garageband, I hope this is the right forum. My GF buys "Play along" CDs which have the musical backup for her flute and she likes to record what she does with Garageband. Sometimes these CDs come with the music on the left channel, and either a flute or a timing "bell" on the right channel. She doesn't want the bell (on the right channel) to be heard in her recordings, but if she records with only the left channel playing, you can't hear the music playing behind her from the right speaker.

So what we are looking for is a way to take the left channel audio only and play it on both speakers.

Here is a link about the play along CDs that explains the two tracks (bottom of the description):

when she records, why cant she use headphones?

also, (and sorry, i don't know GB, so this could be wrong) there should be a way to split the stereo track into 2 mono tracks.. then you would just pan the good side to the middle and mute the bad side.

she does use headphones, but the problem is in her final recordings the music backing her up is only coming out of the left channel.

What you're describing is exactly what we are trying to do, but can't figure out how to do that.

we were able to do it with Audacity, rip the CD, split each track and turn it to mono, then load the mono wav file into garageband. Wish it was a little easier, but at least it works and is free
