Hello, Upon receiving a set of Airpod's(2) and not having an Android or iphone to use with, I was curious about how my Mbpro would be used to listen to music specifically volume control. Do I have to use speech exclusively to lower & increase audio volume and if so are the 'commands' multiple or single word.

It works like any other Bluetooth headphone. You adjust the volume the same way you ever would.

Thankyou, I knew it was Bluetooth connected and that I had to interact with Siri, I just didn't know how much 'talking to Siri' would be necessary to simply increase or decrease the volume. I am one of those people who feel a little self-conscious about wearing tech so add to that having to talk to my laptop in a potentially public place is just too much, I'm almost hyperventilating just thinking about it.

I don’t think I’ve ever used Siri with my airpods :)

I'm sorry, I was told that using them with a Macbook pro Siri was needed to at least alter the volume, seems I was wrong. Sorry to waste your time.

You’re MacBook has a volume control. It also adjusts the volume of connected speakers (even Bluetooth).
