This seems to be a known problem on the Apple support forums, just wondering if anyone else is experiencing it and has found a resolution.
If I go out, leaving my phone at home and use my AirPods Pro 3 (problem also exists with APP2), the podcast or music audio will usually cut out after around 30 seconds. The podcast will continue playing, but no audio through the earphones.
If I disconnect the AirPods from the watch, the audio quite happily plays through the speaker.
Even more bizarrely, earphones from 3rd party suppliers don't suffer this issue.
I've tried reboots of the watch and resetting the AirPods connection.
Really irritating!

I get why you’re frustrated, sir. I’d like to ask a few questions to help us figure out what’s happening.

Do you have any beta versions of your Apple Watch? If so, what version is it, and what series is your Apple Watch? ⌚️

What media app are you using on your watch? Are you using music or podcast apps from Apple, or third-party apps? Are the music or podcasts downloaded to your watch, or are they streamed over cellular?

Has the AirPods been dropped or submerged in water for a long time? Have you cleaned it regularly?

I have the same AirPods Pro 3 as you, and I stream my music without any issues!

Thanks for your reply.

Apple Watch Ultra 3 using the latest production software. Not using anything fancy, just the Apple Podcasts or music app. I've tied downloaded media plus playing over cellular.
No damage to AirPods, batteries all good etc.

👍 thanks for your reply. So no beta on that Apple Watch Ultra 3.

Can you redownload the podcasts and songs by deleting and downloading them again ?

I use AW Ultra 3 with APP2 and APP3. I haven't had this happening. I use Spotify and am listening to downloaded music on the watch, I'm not streaming, typically. Although I did stream a few songs today and it was fine.

Is it your phone or another device grabbing the APP? What if you turn off the ability of the phone auto switch?
Did you try with downloaded content rather than streamed?
Does Spotify do the same thing for you?

It’s interesting that this is such a rare issue with mostly Apple Watch Ultra users . I don’t have that problem with my Series 6 40mm gold stainless steel. Many people who also wear the Apple Watch Ultra of any gen and tested with expensive JBL and Shokz earbuds, along with the same AirPods Pro 3, did notice the audio fading out on AirPods Pro and even Powerbeats . However, a few regular Series users, mostly Series 9 Apple Watch wearers, also experienced this issue. One example of a Redditor who included AirPods Pro 1 is what you’re describing.
I had my audio go in and out a lot when I had my AirPods 2 before upgrading to the Pro 3s, but that time it was with my iPhone 7 running beta iOS 14 and 15 software. No issues after that.

Was about to ask that too lol 😂 and he ain’t using any third party music apps only the native Apple Podcasts and the Apple Music apps.

But a great idea for the OP to check if he had an iPad, Mac or Apple TV in the way and/or an iPhone that was grabbing the connection

Thanks for your replies.
Using the same AirPods with my Mac didn't repeat the issue.

So I figured it's a watch problem and have done a complete reset of the watch. Did a test dog walk this evening and no issue.
🙂

I guess something somewhere got confused, will report back here if the issue happens again.

Knew it’s a watchOS issue sir.

So glad it resolved. Did you disable automatic switching on your Mac and Apple Watch + iPhone? And manually connected the AirPods to your Apple Watch Ultra?

When I connect my AirPods Pro to my series 6 I use the control center and connect them manually to my Apple Watch.
