I recently upgraded to the 2020 iPad Pro 11" from my 10.5" iPad Pro. One of the things I use my iPad for is a soundboard during my podcast. I previously connected my iPad to my mixer through the headphone jack. Never had an issue.

No headphone jack on the new iPad Pro. No biggie — I bought a USB-C to 3.5mm dongle. However, now when I hit a sound, there is about a half second to 1 second delay before the audio plays. Creates a major issue on the podcast and renders the soundboard almost useless. I currently use iJingle Pro and thought maybe it was the app having issues, but I downloaded Soundboard Studio Lite and that has the same issue.

If I disconnect the USB-C dongle and play the sounds through the iPad's speakers, no issue.

Is there anything I can do? Anyone have this issue? Really hurts the "Pro" value of my "Pro" device.

The dongle is converting the digital signal to an analogue one, which takes time. Sounds like you need a dongle with more processing capability so it can do this more quickly?

Or can you connect it via Bluetooth? Given you are just using the iPad as a soundboard I would have thought Bluetooth has sufficient bandwidth to handle this without noticeable sound degradation.

Are you using the Apple adapter? That one is pretty cheap and has a slight delay according to a quick Google search.

ESR is of higher quality.

I have considered bluetooth.

I may also look into that ESR adapter. Thank you both!
