I might try wifi, but frankly I hardwired ethernet jacks behind my media console specifically so I wouldn't have to rely on wifi, so even if that does fix it I wouldn't be happy. Indeed, I might take ethernet over Atmos, given the choice.

I watched a movie on Netflix today that was in Dolby Vision and Atmos. I started getting drop out every 5 minutes or so that would last for 5-10 seconds. When they happened I rewound the movie by 10 seconds each time and hit play. The sections that dropped section would play after doing this. This went on for about 20 minutes. I probably should have given up but after doing that for 20 minutes the dropouts stopped. I was able to watch the rest of the movie with no dropouts. FWIW.

I just got the new 4k to replace my non-4k Apple TV. I also just got a new Samsung TV to replace my 2015 tv. The m not getting audio dropouts in the middle, but when I start playing, or resume play, I will sometimes not get any audio. im running my audio through the optical audio port to a Sonos Playbar

I cant say actually. I have two apple tv 4k second gen and both connected each directly to an LG cx oled which feeds passthrough audio via earc to a receiver and a sound bar. One is running 15.6.1 and the other the latest 16.0. Neither in this connection configuration show a problem. Both are connected via ethernet. If i have time i will connect the apple tv running 16 to the receiver and try that. When i tried previously hooked to the receiver directly running 16, it was perfect.
On edit: hours running through my receiver and had no hiccups with netflix DV/atmos stuff running the latest version of 16.

Good to hear, thanks! I've been running the current tvOS with Atmos off for a few months now, but I'll try turning it on when 16 is out.

I hope you're right that this works. Just found this forum topic tonight as the Netflix audio bug has been driving me crazy. Just signed up for the beta updates to get the latest TVOS 16. Looking forward to trying it out tomorrow night by binge watching the end of Devil in Ohio. The drops cause such a break to the immersion in the streaming of stories. Was a nightmare watching Stranger Things season 4. I'll update here with my results in the coming days.
