I've got a strange problem when streaming mpeg files. I use BeyondTV on a PC to records TV shows and then move them to my Lacie NAS.

When I try to stream the video from the Lacie to my Macbook, the video plays OK, but the audio drops out every few seconds. I have tried using Quicktime as well as VLC and the problem is the same. I do have the Quicktime MPEG component.

If I copy the entire file to the Mac's hard drive it plays fine.

I'm using a 802.11g network. I don't think it is the network speed because if I if I boot the Macbook in Windows with boot camp, the same file plays just fine using VLC for windows.

Any ideas? Thanks.

The problem could be Apple's implementation of the wireless standard. Perhaps it cannot receive and play streamed video at the quality you are sending by default. Maybe there are settings to improve it but I don't know. Some things Windows does better (such as peer-to-peer) and maybe this is one of them.
