AUDIO EDITING SOFTWARE ADVICE NEEDED

Hi all ... I am very new here. Hope I am posting in the correct place.

I need software to run on my G4 under OSX that will do 2 things:

1. Edit (eg. shorten existing music, splice 2 pieces together etc)
2. Allow me to create simple music from loops - up to 6 instruments.

I have heard about Soundtrack 7 but just came across info on garage Band and GB 2.

Any comments from users of this, or other software, would be much appreciated!!!

(On a PC the software is Acid Pro and Sound Forge. Please don't tell me I have to run Virtual PC on my Mac!!!!)

GarageBand would be a great program for making simple music from loops, but might not be as advanced as you need for editing waveforms. For that, I recommend Bias Peak

Thanks for that am investigating GarageBand. It seems to have Middle Eastern loops ... the type of mucic I am playing with!

Sound Forge and Acid are both multi-track sequencers. If you want the same abilities on a Mac, Garage Band is not really what you are looking for.

The more professional (widely used) multi-track sequencers are Bias Deck, Logic, Pro Tools, and what I use, Cubase. This is not a complete list, just what I can think of off of the top of my head.
