I currently connect my xbox 360 to my PC using an optical cable and set windows to monitor the optical input so that my xbox sounds plays through my computer speakers (need to do this because I have an HD pc monitor but it doesnt have speakers)

Is this possible with the new macbook? I have never owned a mac before so I dont know if there is a setting to make the input audio play through the macbooks speakers or output to the macbooks audio out.

thanks in advance

id just use your computer speakers and plug in whatever you want for sound at the time youre using it

seems to me to be the best way

i wouldnt want the xbox playing through the mb speakers anyways

the problem is that the xbox 360 outputs audio either as optical or as seperate component left and right. The pc speakers are surround sound and their inputs are right/left (stereo), sub, rear.

if it isnt possible with the optical in on the macbook then i guess i'd just have to buy an RCA to stero jack adapter.
