Hello,
I've really been looking to record my drums. I'm running an ibook G4 12"..
I have a Yamaha MG12 mixer, and I would like to use this. I also have all my mics. So far, I've tried using an RCA Y cable from the REC OUT into a Griffin imic, then into the usb port on my ibook. I've gotten pretty poor results with that. It's OK, I just think I can get better. A friend of mine connected his mixer straight into his mini disc player and got very nice results.

I was wondering, should I go the mini disc route? Or would I be better off the an audio interface? If so, what should I lookin into?

I really don't need preamps, or any more mic inputs on the interface since I would be using my Mixer. I thought the Griffin Imic would be fine, but I guess not. I'm not looking to spend too much money. The Edirol UA1X looks like something I might need? Any suggestions?

If you are content to record several mikes mixed down to stereo almost any interface will do.

If you want to record isolated tracks, it gets much more complicated and expensive.
