If I'm listening to music or podcast through CarPlay and I turn my car off, the audio keeps playing. Some times I can hear the audio so I press pause on the phone. But most times the volume is low enough to not hear it.

I originally thought the issue was with the play/pause controls on the iPhone screen being accidentally pressed when putting the phone in my pocket but it's not. Anyone else with this issue?

you should be able to do this with automations in shortcuts.

launch the shortcuts app.
go to automations.
hit new and then personal automation.
select CarPlay then disconnects
add action
search for pause. (make sure it's the one with the red square icon, and not the appleTV one)
click the "play/pause" on the window that pops up, and select pause
it should say "pause on iPhone"

once you've done that, make sure "ask before running" is off.
otherwise every time it runs it will ask you if you want to do it in a pop-up.

I don't have car play so can't test this, but should work.
I have some shortcuts that run on joining wifi, they only run by themselves about 50% of the time. so not sure how they'll work for you.

I'll try this out, thanks!

Works great! I even set it up to pause when CarPlay connects as well hoping that will stop it from autoplaying.

When I have no podcast or music playing though I get an error ApplicationNotFound. I can check for current song and if I get a result I can run the action to pause but it doesn't work for podcasts. Any thoughts? Otherwise living with that error is fine and an improvement over having the podcast continue to play.

Thanks for the tip.
