Audio Only Playback From Youtube

Prompted by a member's query about audio only playback from Youtube here are two scripts to assist.
Both require installation of youtube-dl (which itself, requires Python 2.7) but are great if you want to listen to a full album or performance from Youtube.
Unfortunately the version of MPlayer used for streaming is not compatible with G3s, so for those, playing after downloading is available with AudioGrab and for G4s and above, AudioStream will stream audio without having to download the entire file.
Once the Youtube URL has been parsed MPlayer plays the audio with a low CPU tax - around 10% on my 800Mhz G4 iMac.
Full instructions are included in each archive.

Recommendation for acquiring your Youtube URL on low end machines is Safari with javascript disabled.

No that can't be done without perhaps using ffmpeg.

If theory you should be able to integrate this into PPCMC by using ffmpeg with the relevant codecs included.

They are my favourite band...but no, they're a tiny percentage of what I listen to but when I do any kind of Youtube testing my mind goes blank and I tend to default to one of theirs

I’m mostly a CBS-era Stranglers fan, lesser so the Capitol years. So basically “European Female” onward, though I was not fond of their 1990 “Sweet Smell of Success” effort.

And “Golden Brown”’s 13/4 time sig is also nice.

Yes, a lot of post Golden Brown fans don't even recognise the earlier stuff as it sounds wildly different - I like it all but I'll always be in the New Wave camp

Actually, I've revised that - whilst the G3 version of MPlayer can't playback m4a files the one for G4/G5 can, so I've amended AudioStream and it's shaved off a few percent CPU.

By the way I tried what I thought would work but QuickTime didn’t play the audio it was just silent, oh well.
