Audio output question

Would it be possible to have sound coming out of both the earphone jack and the inbuilt speakers?

Because, obviously, when you plug headphones in it just comes out of them. I can't find a way to do it in system preferences.

generally no.
There is a hardware switch inside the headphone jack when you plug something in it deactivates the other audio sources. Least thats how it works on most Tv's i assume computers would be the same.

I have never heard of being able to do anything like this. It would probably require messing around with the hardware.
