I have a macbook 2,1 running 10.5.8 and I cannot get it to output digital audio. I do not have an option in the sound pref pane to change from analog to digital. Any ideas?????

Thanks.

yes, and I have no output. I do not have a digital out tab in the sound menu for system pref's . It's like the computer does not support but I have a macbook pro here as well and it too does not have that tab.

There is NO "digital out" tab, there is only a listing of outputs under the Output tab.

Check System Preferences > Sound > Output or OPTION/Alt click the sound/volume icon in the Menu Bar and tell us, what is listed and checked as Output Device.
