I was wondering if anyone here had an answer to this.

I have a new aluminum imac and currently use the internal speakers. I just bought an lcd with a vga input on it. I would like to know if it is possible to disable the sensor on the headphone port, so i could get sound from both the internal speakers and the headphone port. I will have an audio cable running from the computer to the tv, so i would like sound to come out of both. Is this possible? I don't really want to unplug and plug back in the cable every time i want sound out of the tv.

thanks.

I don't think there is a way around this. The sensor in the headphone jack automatically detects when a connection is made and through special ninja magic, disables the speakers. I think this is a process done entirely in the hardware. What would be required to make this possible is likely to void your warranty and leave you with no sound at all. Plus, it would be super annoying if you wanted to use headphones and have sound coming out of the speakers as well.
