Now that Apple has released Macs capable of putting out audio over HDMI (via Mini-Displayport) I was wondering if there is a hack to do this on older MacBooks. Certainly this is software based.

I remember a little pref pane that allowed two-finger scrolling on iBooks--hoping the same type of thing exists for audio over HDMI.

I am sure this is something that is hardware based, and then tied in via software. The Mini-Displayport does not support audio. However, there are alternatives.

Mini-display does support audio. Apple had it artificially blocked. I don't know if it was by hardware or software.
