iPod Audio Quality in Apple Products these days?

Posting here because it seems like the most knowledgeable people hang out in this forum.

I remember reading how the iPod Classic didn't sound as good as the 4th/5th or how the original ipod shuffle sounded great.

Just curious how iPad, iphone 4, nano, shuffle, or even macbook pro/air, etc sound these days?
