Audio Question

I have just got my first Mac and I am loving it so far. The only downside is the sound is not great. I would like to hook it up to my surround sound system. The only input on my surround sound is an optical in cable. Am I able to buy a cable to connect my Mac to this?

Does your sound system support optical TOSLINK? If so, then yes.

If not, you're left with either 2.1 sound or an external sound card.

Doesn't look like my amplifier is compatible with TOSLINK. Can you recommend me an external sound card?

Not really much info to go on. What model is your receiver? What is the exact kind of input?
