Audio recording software...

Hi all. I need a good free audio recording software that can record for an unlimited amount of time. I'm trying to figure out if my dog is crying while I'm away at work... or any kind of video recording software that will record for several hours? Any ideas?

QuickTime Player X, if you have Mac OS X 10.6 or 10.7.
Or you could look at Audacity.
