I've got a fairly simple question that I just can't seem to find the answer to by googling it. I like to listen to audiobooks. If I were to start listening on my iphone, either via the ibooks, audible, or undulib app, can I use the watch to play/pause the book? More importantly, do the controls allow for 15/30 second rewind/fast forward option that would appear if I dug my phone out of my pocket whenever a car honks or something?

Much appreciated.

I use Audible and if I listen on my phone, then yes I can control playback on the watch just like any other sources. You can also rewind the 15/30sec etc and adjust the volume.

I wish the Audible app was native to the watch and we could stream on LTE as I love listening to books whilst walking the dogs and have to take the phone with me if I want to listen to a book.

The Now Playing on Apple Watch doesn't function with iBook audiobooks.

FWIW, they don't work on iPhone too (can't play/pause in CC & doesn't have audio sheet on Lock Screen too)

I'm looking at my Nike+ Series 2 on watchOS 4.3 Now Playing and it allows me to control the audiobook, including 15 seconds advance/rewind, playback speed, and volume. On my iPhone 7+ iOS11.3 lock screen with audiobook playing I am able to scrub through the audiobook, advance/rewind with 15 second advance, and volume.

From iBook?

Yeah, controlling audiobooks playing on my iPhone works from the Now Playing app on my Apple Watch. I get all of the fast forward and rewind options too. It’s nice, but I really would prefer a stand-alone audiobooks app on the watch.

My series 1 watch came in today. I can confirm control with iBooks, Undulib, audible, and the big finish app. It’s terribly convenient!
