Yup, that too. I lived in Gig Harbor, WA, and always enjoyed the trip out to Oregon at least once a month.![]()
I live in Seattle and debating if I should ride Amtrak to Oregon to buy Mac Air =).

Because it's Oregon and they don't pay sales taxes.Yup, It's a Keeper for me. 3G reception here is very good in PR(Puerto Rico). I wonder why Oregon has bad 3G, are you sure it's not your phone? you should check it, just in case!

enjoy where you are. Mid West Canada is worseI'm keeping mine for sure!
Everybody keeps complaining about AT&T's 3G. It's freakin' fantastic here. Excellent coverage & speed.
Read the contract, it's readily available from AT&T or google.I thought the iPhone was subject to a 14 day return policy.

not to mention "no sales taxes"![]()
you must only go to metro area then![]()
yes mostly. I did say almost. I spent a week in Hilton Head Island and it was Edge only. But by Metro, it doesn't mean big downtown areas. I live in Austin, TX and get good 3G coverage everywhere.
I know some places I travel like Wyoming and such will not have 3G and I will very happy to have Edge in those places.
But some people like to describe the coverage as being very limited and I think for those who do not live in small towns, the coverage is good.
Not sure the eye rolling was necessary, but no worries.
3G is pretty limited to bigger cities. I wish it wasn't. What I want to know is why can't it be national? Like Edge is now?
I like the line, but to what does it refer?
But the train ride would be more than the tax you'd pay in Seattle. Plus, you'd still have to pay the tax when you take it home (or face prosecution) due to new state laws that took effect on July 1, 2008.
TEG
Because they have to go to each tower and add extra equipment and more data lines coming into it. It is hard enough getting the Broadband they need to rural towers because of local Telcos and ISPs. It is also expensive to do the upgrades. So they upgraded places where they would have the greatest impact. Then the extra cost for 3G service is used to pay for equipment and labor to install the 3G systems on outlying towers. 3G will grow orgainicly outward from the metros and eventually have a foot print equal to or greater than EDGE. Likely around the time they start testing LTE.
TEG
What do you mean from 2 metro areas to 5? (edit: in Oregon) I find 3G almost everywhere I go. and it is almost always nice and fast.
I can't imagine going back to an Edge only device.
I waited in line to get my iPhone on July 11th and it my first 48 hrs with it were miserable. Once I got it working I started realizing all of it's bugs and shortcomings. I decided to hold out until Apple released a firmware upgrade and now that they have and my iPhone experience hasn't gotten much better, I'll be returning it. This is my 3rd smartphone and I'm really surprised at all of the simple user conveniences and functions that are missing from the iPhone. Apple really needs to give up some control if they ever to really compete in the smartphone market.
I'll be replacing my 16gb iPhone 3G with the Nokia N95 8gb.
