August's New HomeKit-Enabled Wi-Fi Smart Lock Now Available to Order

Ordered one today. Probably won’t be able to give the old model away now but if this new model is more reliable in terms of connection I’m in. I would say the bluetooth model has been about 90% reliable.

This device only works with HomeKit over Bluetooth. It does not work over Wifi. So buyers beware if that's what you're expecting. I have one and this is what Support told me.

So if I am away from home, and open my HOME app on my phone, I can not lock/unlock the lock? I have to do it through the August App?

That is correct. Unless....the lock is in range of your home hub. My front door is, while my back door is no where near it. The August apps works ok form us though. The Auto Unlock has worked really well too.
The only option I really have is to have 2 hubs. One being Apple TV in front and an iPad on the wall in the back.

I just don’t understand why it’s so hard or what the requirements are for HomeKit over WiFi. No one seems the be able to explain it...
