iPhone 12 Pro AUP trading in 12 Pro for 12 Pro Max?

I’m still on the fence of if I like the 12 Pro or not. I am on the Apple Upgrade Program but if I wanted to exchange it for a 12 Pro Max, how would that work? Does the 14 day return still apply? And if so will I have some buffer time so i can keep using this phone till the 12 Pro Max arrives?

Wondering if anyone’s done this before. Thanks!

I think you need to cancel the upgrade programme and start all over again, before the Max preorders start. Unless you run 2 upgrade programmes at once but then it will be too late to return and cancel the pro 12 one.

It’s a shame Apple did this staggered release because it messes things like this up. I wonder why they did it like this

You have 14 days from the original date you received it. If you pre-order it online? Or was it purchased in-store? Either way you have 14 days from the day you received it. If you have a web order, you can initiate the return and you have additional 14 days from the day you start the process. So if you plan on pre-ordering the Pro Max, you can start the return process on 11/5/2020 or 11/6/2020 and you have till 11/19/2020 or 11/20/2020 for apple to receive it respectively.

I’m kind of in the same boat. Not sure whether I want to keep the 12 Pro or return it and get the Max (coming from an 11 Pro Max). As far as I understand, you have 14 days to return the phone from when you got it. If you have a store near you, even better. Contact Apple and let them know what you’re doing. Once you return the phone, it should be easy for Apple to reinstate your upgrade eligibility and for you to be able to preorder and get the phone on launch day.

Yep, there's really no way to do that. You have to return what you got, which will cancel your loan and AUP, then you can apply for a new one when the 12 Pro Max comes out.

I went from the 11 Pro Max to the 12 Pro and ... just looked into what it would take if I decided that I didn't like the 12 Pro and wanted the 12 Pro Max - I read the fine print, did some reading, yep. You just return this, cancel it, (hopefully you have an old iPhone in storage to use until the 12 Pro Max comes out).

Me? I'm happy with my 12 Pro. I'm keeping it. I compare vs my wife's 11 Pro Max - the 12 Pro is so much better to hold and I'm only missing a word every other sentence or so. Yeah, I'm cool with this.

Next year if I want to I'll go back to the 13 Pro Max.
