Australian iPad Order "Prepared for Shipment"

No it will arrive on 28 May.

Mine is 'Prepared for shipment' too 🙂 Exciting!

My case, however, is still 'not yet shipped'
 
Wow thats pretty exciting, earlier than most people expected i'm sure! 😱

(And yes, I did go straight to my own orders screen to check out my order status, but no change yet lol!)
 
I ordered the 16gb wifi & the 32gb wifi + 3G plus the camera connection kit and case.

At the moment only the 16gb wifi and camera connection kit states its prepared for shipment. 😀

So excited hope the 3G also ships same day, it does however still say "delivers by 28th". Ill be annoyed if they come in separate packages delivered on separate runs.

They will be delivered as they become available. So you will get whatever Apple is able to ship at the time.

Yeah I saw that, just hope its on the same day, Iv taken a day leave so I don't miss the TNT man. Im sure there are many others that have done the same.
 
I guess you pre-ordered right at the start. I have a friend here who pre-ordered a week later, and he won't be getting his until the 2nd week of June.

This probably won't be the case with iPad but when I ordered my latest iMac earlier in the year I ordered AppleCare and the new remote with it. The remote and AppleCare both said they had been shipped but the iMac had not, the UPS guy arrived I took the small packages from him and shut the door and he knocked again with my iMac despite the fact that it said on my account 'Not yet shipped' so you never know the whole lot might come at once.

Still seeing "Estimated Shipping: By May 28th" here. I ordered on the 10th at around 6am BST. However, I did order the 64Gb 3G, which will probably be one of the most in-demand variants.

Reckon I'll be lucky to see it before Tuesday 1st June (Monday 31st's a bank holiday) and am trying to set my expectations accordingly. 🙁
 
I'm praying it arrives on Friday, booked the day off work as my girlfriend wasn't too thrilled about waiting in all day for it for me.

my order status remains the same up to now on my 3G 16gb.
 
In Italy Apple customer support keeps telling people that our orders will be SHIPPED on the 28th, causing much distress 🙄

My order still says Delivers by May 28th, I'm confident.
 
No change here, still 'Not yet shipped. Ships: Delivers by May 28th' for my 64GB wifi version. Maybe the 16GBs are getting priority due to volume.

Anyway, prepared for shipment means it's left the production line and is packaged with your label on the box waiting to head to the airport in Guandong or wherever it is they make them.

Personally, I think some of the delay is because there aren't enough planes. 600,000 worldwide preorders have to go out next week on top of the 800,000 a week heading to the US. Assume you can fit 20,000 per plane, that's a minimum of seventy 747s or 707s which have to land, load, fuel and take off again every 50 minutes in 5 days - just for one product, let alone for all the other millions of products they export every week. Bigger than the Berlin airlift. I'd hazard to guess that the rice-paddy airfield in Guandong is easily bigger and busier than Denver or La Guardia or even Heathrow, yet with virtually zero passenger traffic..

Edit. Or maybe it's only 200,000 a week to the US. So that's okay. Plenty of planes then. 🙂
 
In light of the above comment I can confirm my preorder was for a 32GB iPad so it is not just the 16GB's that are showing as 'Prepared for shipment'.

I ordered about 06:30 (a 64GB WiFi) and mine says 'Delivers by 28th May' still. UK Order.
 
Ok so I just checked again, my whole order has been prepared for shipping 😀

Cant wait now!
 
My order changed from "Not yet shipped" to "Prepared for Shipment" in the last half hour (between 9:30 and 10:00 pm).
Oddly though, the extended warranty is still "Not yet shipped"!

Same here. Looks like they're all going through now ahead of schedule.

The camera connection kit is still June 7 though.
