Hey All,

I'm having some troubles with authentication on an external harddrive. I'll try to make it short.

I have a 2tb harddrive connected via usb to my macbook, in it I have videos, movies and my rather large iPhoto library.

Couple weeks ago, I finally decided to use Time Machine to back up my files. Upon doing this, I now have to authenticate every file move within the hardrive. For example, moving a video from my downloads folder within the external hardrive to my videos folder within the same external hardrive.

Is there a way to disable the constant authentication process when moving files between folders within the external harddrive?

The drive is currently configured as a Mac OS Extended (Journaled) drive.

Thanks in advance

Have you tried Repairing Permissions?

I know, some people automatically suggest repairing permissions for every conceivable problem, no matter how irrelevant permissions may be - but I think it is actually a good idea in this case. It certainly couldn't hurt.
