Auto Email Birthday Reminder

I have some of my address book contacts birthdays listed, is it possible to set an auto email reminder for all birthdays say 1 week before and on the day?

Sorry I meant they are listed in iCal already but how do I get a reminder for all the birthdays?
 
Here is a neat Automator workflow you might want to check out. Might be overkill for what you want to do though.
 
Is there anything simpler, kind of like the appointment reminder dinner?
