Auto Layout Feature

So, I am reading today that this new 'Auto Layout' feature in IOS6 could potentially mean a larger iPhone 5/New iPhone screen.
I am not a Dev...but was curious as to what those of you that are testing beta feel this Auto Layout is or could be used for.
Just curious.
I have heard so many people talk about all this fragmentation and resolution stuff that I am curious as to how Auto Layout calculates into that?!
