My husband's iPhone 8 is set to auto lock after 1 minute but the screen won't turn off. Don't know what other setting might be keeping this from working. Any suggestions?

Someone posted this on Apple forums..might work for you too

1. Turn off passcode at Settings > Touch ID & Passcode > Turn Passcode Off.

2. Restart your device.

3. Turn on passcode at Settings > Touch ID & Passcode > Turn Passcode On. (Do not delete your saved finger prints.)

This worked for me. Auto Lock works once more.

He ended up changing the auto lock time from 1 minute to 3 minutes before I had a chance to give him these suggestions. That worked for him.

I know you said it was fixed, but I had an app one time preventing auto lock.

Hi

I was having the exact same problem, so I Googled it and came upon this thread. I followed your advice and within 5 minutes the problem was solved. I just wanted to say thank you for taking the time to post your advice, it saved me a long trip to my nearest Apple store!

Best wishes,

Paul.

[doublepost=1510558202][/doublepost]I had this problem with a new IPhone 8 and followed the instructions above for passcodes and restarts, It came right, and auto locked fine. Now, around an hour later I find the phone appears dead, I am unable to open the phone, Black screen, no response to anything. Not the best fix :(

It sounds like your iPhone has other issues. This is just the fix I found posted on Apple Forums for an auto lock problem. Time to call Apple. I'm sorry it didn't help.
