Oh, look on the bright side. Waking up to no coffee is still better than not waking up at all.

The coffee shortage can be fixed. :)

Ah, but you don't need to be fearful of never waking up. You'd never know it. :p

I think I've experienced an even worse worst fear at work...

BOTH... of the latte machines are down!

Most of the reviews I've seen in the past 2 weeks have mentioned this so.. yes it may be an issue but we'll see how it is.

Well, this review basically cuts to it and shows you that the current version of the watch is going to be inconsistent at best:

I guess I will have to wait and see how good/bad it is in person.

This review was wholly inaccurate. It omitted the constant emails from Mike Bloomberg asking what time Josh came into the office that morning, and the email that expressly bans the WATCH in any meeting that Bloomberg is in. It also fails to show the fact that only Mike Bloomberg's face - NOT MICKEY MOUSE - can be used as a watch face. This is all Bloomberg Business policy, and I found it telling that it was omitted.

But can it be fixed quick enough? I don't want to resort to sucking yesterdays filters out of the bin.

........ Again :D

So anyone with a watch (e.g. G-shock) that had the auto light come on when you turn your wrist towards you knows just how maddening the system can be. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't, and sometimes even the 1 second or 500 millisecond delay can drive you crazy. The worst part is you start doing a very precise exaggerated movement to get your watch to work right, and I hate that personally.

No reviews have touched on this, and it is impossible to try out how accurate/precise the apple watch is in the store because all the fitting units are running a demo and not live. The live watches are mounted onto an ipad-like slab.

.. because I'm certain Apple is using the exact same technology Casio is using. :p

I am guessing that the lift to turn on will be about as good as the fingerprint sensor is on the iPhone. For me, the fingerprint sensor works about 85%-90% of the time, and other times I end up having to use my passcode. It's annoying, but at least with the watch I can just touch the crown or screen.

I think we all lead a charmed life spending so much time on the watch, but I never said that was my worst fear overall in life.

I was just poking you. ;)

Besides, your title hinted at something far more sinister. I do like your new title. More descriptive.

I agree that this may be an issue. I suppose we'll all need to test these more in everyday scenarios to know how much it affects usage.

Yeah; I mean, how do you even know that the "you" who wakes up in the morning is the same "you" who went to bed the night before? A version of you might die every day and as long as the you who woke up in the morning was a good enough copy, you'd never know it. Let's get into some existentialism here, man.

Oh, but your Watch may not turn on perfectly every time you look at it.

If this were posted before the pre-orders began, people would have been outraged...

"OMG! They need to fix this if they want my money!"

But now that pre-orders are in, this "old news" and "no biggie" and "who cares?".

This is one of the reasons Apple seems unstoppable these day. No matter how flawed their offerings may be, people are mollified by the shiny shiny and forget quickly.

People also zero in on one tiny thing that, chances are, isn't even a big deal to a vast majority of people out there, and then act like it's a showstopper bug.

Currently I'm assuming the auto on won't work well with me as my job is very physical. I'll try it but will prob end up keeping that feature off to conserve battery

Why would people have been outraged? "ACCORDING TO REVIEWS, THIS FEATURE WORKS GREAT 90% OF THE TIME, BETTER THAN ANY OTHER SMARTWATCH ON THE MARKET! I'M OUTRAGED!"

Heck, how do we even know that the watch display is off when we can't see it?

I mean, do we really know that the refrigerator light stays out when we close the door?

Therefore I propose that, like Schrödinger's cat, the watchface is actually both off AND on when we are not looking at it.

*cough* Seriously, there's no way for any watch without a camera to know when we're looking at it. So there'll always be situations where it does not come on when we want it to.
