autocorrect and spell check

Hi all,

Is it me or is this backwards? I can't have spell check without autocorrect. I want spell checking only and not bloody automatic corrections!

The iphone 4 keeps correcting words that I don't need/want corrected (using various short forms) and it's pissing me off! Checking the spelling is fine but not automatically correcting. *scratches head* So...is it me or is this backwards? And can I change this?

Agreed, really annoying. The options should be independent of each other.
