I just got an iPhone 6 and the auto lock feature is not working. I went to General Settings and set it up so that it auto locks after one minute. It doesn't "lock" however. After one minute the screen turns black, but to reawaken the phone, all I have to do is press the round key at the bottom -- it doesn't prompt me for my fingerprint or passcode. Is there something else I need to turn on? I already set it up to read my thumb print earlier.

Chances are you're unlocking it with your finger when you wake it up. Try waking it up with a finger that's not registered with Touch ID.

Nevermind, it's working. The reason I was confused is because this is the second iPhone 6 I bought (I returned the first one), and it seems this new one is a lot more efficient in reading my thumb print. My first phone, after locking itself, would give me the "slide to unlock" screen when I tried to reactivate the phone. It would then ask for either my thumb print or my passcode. My new phone does not give me the "slide to unlock" screen. It will just read my thumb print if I press on the button a second time. Is this an update to the OS or a setting I can change (not that I would want to)?

Thanks EM2013, that's exactly what was happening. I was confused because this is not how my first iPhone 6 functioned.

Wake it up with the power button or just press the home button and lift your finger before Touch ID reads your print and you'll see the slide to unlock.

next time try to reset 'unlocking by finger touch' feature.
that cured my problem, nothing else worked.

They changed the delay. Turn it on with something other than your finger. The slide to unlock will show up.
