Automated cleaning of drive

    It was mentioned to me a while back by an experienced Mac user that not only does the drive not require defragmenting, but that Apple programs the machines to do something akin to a self-cleaning each week at a certain time, something like early Saturday morning.

    I've searched this forum futilely for an answer. Fact or fiction? Thanks.

    The file system makes this unnecessary.

    That's very true... right after Scooby-Doo.

    Note: I wonder if the Windows people get these kind of questions?

    OSX runs daily, weekly and monthly scripts around 3am.
