Hello everyone,

I have a shortcut that switches into Low Power Mode at 10pm and then switches to normal power at 8am the following morning. The evening shortcut always works but in the morning I find that the shortcut to revert back to normal power has not triggered.

Looking in the Battery usage, I cam see that there has been activity in the Home & Lock Screen but I cannot see anymore than that.

I have tried different times (within the same day) and that seems to work fine. For example, switching into LP at 10am and then switching back to LP an hour later.

The issue seems to be when the two triggers are either side of 12AM.

Anyone any ideas?

What if instead of a time trigger to turn Lower Power Mode off, it was battery level instead?

If you want to post your script steps, that might help. Does it start with the morning step or the evening step? If it starts with the evening step, you might want to reverse it so there's a complete on and off within the same day, and see if that resolves it.

That's a good idea. I'll try that. Thanks.

Just to check: both automations have ‘ask before running’ off?

They do. I've set it up now so that it triggers low power at 12.05 and then triggers it again at 8.05. Hopefully this will work.

It failed again last night, not even recognising the trigger for the morning change. There was no notification either.

It's not working at all now. Set it to go into LP at 12.01 am and come out of LP at 9.01am. I didn't even get notifications.

I had suggested that you post your script steps but you declined to do that. It's hard to troubleshoot a script without seeing it.

Ok, so today, 21.01 AM, the script triggered correctly but when it reached 8.01 am in the morning, it failed.

here are my scripts. The first triggers at 12.01 AM and turns LP on.

The second triggers at 8.01 AM and turns LP off.

Any help appreciated.

I recreated your automations using times as 8:00 AM on and 8:03 AM off. It worked correctly and I received Shortcut notifications for both. I suspect it may have worked because my screen wasn't locked, but I can't confirm that without doing an overnight test, which I don't want to do.

My suggestion to troubleshoot is update your times to see if they work within a few minutes of each other. Then do the same test but lock your screen after the first automation to see if the second will run when locked.

Yesterday I tried them about five hours apart and they worked fine. I'll try the second later today. I'd like to thank you very much for your help and posts.

Okay, I set it on at 2.25 pm and off at 2.30 pm. I then locked the phone. It worked correctly both times, gave notifications even while the screen was locked.

For another data point, I also recreated those automations and they successfully ran on my device a few minutes apart.

OK great, so if that worked, you could try spreading out the times more to test at what point it stops. I'm at a loss why it doesn't work with the times you had previously.

I’ve a similar issue where an evening automation to change my watch face and put my iPhone in to Dark Mode, works every time. Yet my automation to reverse those changes, in the morning, has never worked no matter what I do. Hugely annoying!
